After their first two matches were postponed Murrayfield IV got the season off to a good start with a win against a resurgent Penicuik II team.

By the 6th game Murrayfield led by 4 - 2 but Penicuik put up an excellent performance in the doubles with their pairing of Clive Liddiard and Jan Wiersma prevailing 11-9 in the fifth against Ian Moran and Chris Markey.

Although Murrayfield won the remaining three singles the scorelines were close in two of these, with Chris Markey beating Jan Wiersma to 7 in the fifthset, Ian Moran beating Brian Bailey in three straight before Lynn Somerville beat Clive Liddiard to 4 in the fifth set of the final encounter.
