Murrayfield 5 were well beaten by a strong University side who are bound to be serious contenders for the Div1 title .
In
the two opening sets of singles, only Colin registered a win-over
Crystal. Charlie found it a big step up from Div 2/3 and lost meekly to
Tim and Simon- their strongest players.
Colin and Tim played out a good match; the first
two ends (one each) both settled by edges before Colin's forehand
stopped firing and Tim closed out the game in 4.
Murrayfield's
last chance to launch a comeback came in the doubles. Roger and Colin
caused their opponents (Tim and Simon) plenty trouble but-after taking the 2nd game- lost out in a tight 4 setter.
In the final set of games, Charlie missed some good chances against Crystal, while Colin lost out to Simon.
The
highlight of the evening was Roger's excellent win against Tim in the
final match of the evening -Tim struggling against Roger's patient,
largely defensive, game.
