 Team 6 proved too strong for EI 7 in an enjoyable match at North Merchiston. Murrayfield caught their opponents cold (literally-the heating took time to get going) with Charlie and Alex beating Ken and Kirk respectively with surprising ease (assisted by a few moments of furtune). Ian then lost to Jim (playing up) who was fluent with his backhand drives. In the battle of the 'funny bats', Charlie  bemused Kirk more with his short pimples than Kirk bemused Charlie with his LPs, before Alex played some good stuff in beating Jim and Ian played solidly enough to beat Ken.

 With the score 5-1, Ian and Charlie overcame some early jitters to take the doubles in 4 games and secure victory.

In the final set of singles Alex found some real form in his game versus Ken (especially in the 2nd end when he really focused-and took it 11-0).  Ian lost out to Kirk in the best game of the evening: a 5-setter in which Kirk finally found some rhythm with his defensive play.
