Team 6 made it two from two in an enjoyable contest with Corstorphine III.

After Charlie won quickly against an out of sorts David Grant (their strongest player on paper) , Ian won the key match between the two form players of the evening:  despite some struggles with Kevin’s serves, Ian battled hard to take a close match 11-7 in the fifth.
After getting the better of veteran Dougie Smith, Jake played an entertaining match vs Dave, taking the 4th end 14-12 and forcing Dave to play unusually defensively but eventually losing in 4 sets.

Charlie then lost out in a tense, tactical contest with Kevin, who finished strongly with his serves and third-ball attacks and took the fifth game 11-7. Ian played a series of superb backhands in beating Dougie in three and took this form into the doubles where he and Charlie won in straight games.   With the score now 5-2 to Murrayfield, it was left to Jake to confirm victory. However, despite bright starts in all the games he too failed to get to grips with Kevin’s serve and lost in three. After taking the first two games with ease against David, Ian found himself drawn back to 2-2 and the overall match back in the balance. The skipper recomposed himself and took the fifth game 11-2 to secure the points for his side.
