A night that Murrayfield felt they could have done better. Young William Skinner went down 3-2 but had chances in the fourth to kill the game off, a bit of fortune at the net for Ker Wilkie and then an edge saved the game for him and he went on to show his experience in higher divisions by take the match with a convincing final game.
Mark Davidson then lost 2- 3 against Tony Sutherland, Tony played a safe defensive game that Mark got caught up in. Mark eventually found his range and got control of Tony's service but it was too late and Tony deservedly took the match. Although it was another missed oppertunity for Murrayfiled.
Geof Gardner was in form and beat Gerome Romey and Mark, although William proved too strong for him. Pen hold player Gerome Romey played a very strong match against Tony, with Gerome's controlled offensive forehand proving too strong for Tony to cope with. William picked up another match against Tony, William's forehand top spin was impressive in this match. The final score of 7-3 left Murrayfield VII still looking for their first win of the season.
